The kerbing is manufactured using concrete, which provides durability and structural integrity required for heavy-duty applications. It is designed to withstand the weight and traffic of vehicles, ensuring long-lasting performance. The kerbs are usually installed at the edges of roads, parking lots, and pathways to provide clear separation between different areas, guide traffic flow, and prevent vehicles from encroaching onto pedestrian areas.
One of the notable features of commercial concrete kerbing is its interlocking mechanism. The kerbs are designed with a V-shaped joint between individual units. These units can be laid next to each other, and the V joints interlock, creating a secure and seamless connection. This interlocking design enhances the overall stability of the kerbing, making it more resistant to shifting due to traffic loads.
The V joints between the kerb units are typically filled with mortar, a mixture of cement, sand, and water. This mortar filling serves to further strengthen the connection between the kerbs and provides additional stability to the kerbing structure as a whole.
